Largest Dog in the World

Largest Dog in the World

The largest dog in the world is a huge English mastiff that weighs in at 284 pounds.

The dog named Hercules who currently holds this record of the largest dog in the world is not the biggest dog recorded in history as that dog, another English mastiff, weighed in at over 340 pounds which is considerably bigger than the largest dog in the world this year.

It seems that the English mastiff always holds the record for the largest dog in the world and this dog in particular has held the record for many years.

There was a hoax in recent years when somebody digitally changed a photograph and claimed that it was a genuine picture of the largest dog in the world but the English mastiff that holds this record as the largest dog in the world is not as tall as the picture suggested.

On the other hand the tallest dog in the world stretches to 7 feet tall when standing on its hind legs and that particular dog is a Great Dane.

Apparently there is only one gene that is responsible for the difference in size between small dogs and the largest dog in the world.
